The trap's tunnel-shaped construction allows the animal to see all the way through the trap. However, it cannot pass the 2 killing units located in the middle.

When the animal hits the activation pin in one of the 2 killing units, a CO2 driven piston is released, killing the animal instantly. The animal falls to the ground and is removed either by other animals or by a technician.

After a kill, the killing device is ready for use again. There are approximately 25 kills in each CO2 cartridge.

When the trap is serviced, the number of kills is read with Ratélcom's APP. CO2 cartridges and bait are changed as necessary.

The trap is locked with a key, and the front lid of the trap can be removed with one hand after unlocking.

Ratél's mechanical rat trap is mounted in the sewage trap's wastewater drain. The trap is robustly designed to work in the sewer environment. It is easy to install from ground level. The rats cannot pass the trap, but are led up into a killing chamber, where they are killed humanely by means of a CO2-driven piston. After killing, the rats are flushed out with the wastewater. The same trap can be used for different sewer pipe dimensions.

The use of a CO2 powered piston to kill rats is far more humane and environmentally friendly than the use of poison. Furthermore, problems of resistance are avoided, which otherwise can have fatal consequences for the control in a given area, because the toxins used may lose their intended effect.

Built-in rat block in a sewer trap

The trap also works as a rat block, which means that rats can't under any circumstances access the parts of the sewer system where the traps are mounted. This is also the case if a malfunction should occur. The trap's damper is made of fiberglass, just as the built-in lock prevents the rats from lifting them.

The trap can be mounted, operated and dismantled from the surface without anyone having to descend into the sewer and does not block the flow of waste water.
